Fire Alarm Certificate

When your fire alarm testing is completed, you should be given a Fire Alarm certificate. It is similar to a periodic inspection report.
Fire alarm certificates should be stored in a secure location. This is for proof of compliance in the case that it is required.
Fire alarm testing is a legal requirement that must comply with BS5839. A knowledgeable expert should test fire alarm systems.
This can be done weekly, 6 times a month, or once a year. The annual fire alarm test is the most important criterion to follow.

Fire Risk Assessments

Fire Hoses

Fire risk assessments are compulsory under current UK legislation for commercial properties employing more than five workers.
Fire Risk Assessments are carried out by UK Safety and Compliance in schools, licenced premises, offices, warehouses/factories, residential properties, care homes, retail outlets, and all buildings that are required by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which includes common areas of flats.
Our assessors are highly experienced and knowledgeable professionals who provide compliance by providing a high-quality professional service. Our reports are comprehensive but simple to understand, ensuring that the end-user is fully aware of their responsibilities.

We can supply and carry out a fire risk assessment of your property as part of our UK Safety and Compliance assessments services. Fire Extinguisher Service and Maintenance

Firehouse Gear

It is essential to properly maintain fire extinguishers and fire safety systems. It is recommended that fire extinguishers are serviced and maintained annually to ensure that they will function in an emergency.
To ensure compliance a responsible person within your organisation should also conduct a visual inspection on a regular basis to ensure the extinguisher has not been damaged or accidentally discharged. If your organisation employs 5 people or more you must also hold a physical record of all service, maintenance and inspections.

A full test of the fire alarm system should be carried out every 6 months. The test should be carried out by a competent person. The fire alarm test should be carried out in accordance with BS5839 part 1 section 6.

Once the test is completed it should be put in the logbook. On completion of your fire alarm testing, you should receive a fire alarm certificate.

It is important to know that Fire alarm testing is mandatory, and the fire alarm must be tested in accordance with BS5839 – the regulations for fire detection and fire alarm systems. They cover the design, commissioning and maintenance of buildings.
A Grade Fire Alarm type system:
Grade A fire alarm systems have the following requirements: Smoke/Fire Detectors; Heat/Fire Detectors; Manual Call Points to sound the alarm; Central Control Panel for maintenance; Fire Alarm Sounders.
A Grade fire alarm systems are usually found in commercial settings but are also seen in homes.
D Grade Fire Alarm Type System
D grade fire alarms are more common in domestic type properties. They are always installed in new builds as it is now regulation to have this done. They are installed by interlinking each smoke and heat alarm together via the mains. This is then backed up with battery power to ensure a constant supply.
